TikTok plans to sue the Trump administration over the president’s government order to ban the favored app, in accordance with a report from NPR.
President Trump on Thursday signed an executive order blocking all transactions with ByteDance, the China-based firm that owns TikTok, in 45 days.
Trump cited a “national emergency with respect to the information and communications technology and services supply chain” as the explanation for the moratorium, escalating a dispute with TikTok that would pressure an acquisition of some or the entire social app by Microsoft or one other firm.
NPR reported that TikTok will argue that Trump’s order is unconstitutional. The federal lawsuit will likely be filed as quickly as Tuesday.
Replace: The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that Twitter has had “preliminary talks” with TikTok a few deal involving the app’s U.S. operations.
